Principal Scientist, Digital Pathology

Cernostics is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist, Digital Pathology with demonstrated expertise in digital pathology, including acquisition and quantitative analysis of tissue slides. The position will be based at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the position is to perform research and clinical duties related to tissue-based cancer diagnostic testing. The successful candidate will develop, optimize and validate precision medicine assays using Cernostics’ proprietary TissueCypher® computational pathology platform. The position requires close collaboration with a dynamic, multidisciplinary group of scientists, bioinformaticians and engineers. The Principal Scientist will apply relevant techniques including multiplexed immunofluorescence slide labeling, histologic slide staining, digital slide imaging and image analysis, cell culture, and bioinformatics approaches to research and development projects and clinical testing. The Principal Scientist will supervise and mentor technical staff, work with clinical and academic collaborators on development and validation studies and perform other research and clinical duties as assigned.

Clinical Laboratory Supervisor

Cernostics is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the role is to manage day to day operations of a high complexity anatomic pathology laboratory performing cancer diagnostic testing. The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor will provide oversight of high complexity histopathology laboratory operations, including management of quality assurance, quality control, equipment, reagents, standardized operating procedures, safety, and supervision of laboratory personnel. As a working member of the clinical testing team the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor will maintain technical competence on procedures, serve as a knowledge resource and role model for other team members, conduct tests on patient samples using Cernostics’ proprietary tools and established protocols including preparation of reagents, multiplexed immunofluorescence slide labeling, digital slide imaging and image analysis, cell culture, and data management, plus other laboratory duties as assigned.

Scientist

Cernostics is seeking a Scientist at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the Scientist position is to perform research and clinical duties related to tissue-based cancer diagnostic testing. The successful candidate will develop and validate precision medicine assays using Cernostics’ proprietary TissueCypher® computational pathology platform. The Scientist will perform multiplexed immunofluorescence slide labeling, digital slide imaging and image analysis, cell culture, and data management for both research and clinical testing, as well as work with clinical and academic collaborators on development and validation studies, supervise technical staff and perform other research and clinical duties as assigned. The position requires close collaboration with a dynamic, multidisciplinary group of scientists, bioinformaticians and engineers. The responsibility of this position is managing specialized work efficiently, with confidence, competence and discipline. The position requires above average attention to details, concern for the exact correctness of work, and strong commitment to tasks completed on time. A somewhat faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Associate Scientist

Cernostics, Inc., is seeking an Associate Scientist at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the Associate Scientist role is to assist with laboratory duties related to tissue-based cancer diagnostic testing. The successful candidate will perform preparation of reagents, multiplexed immunofluorescence slide labeling, digital slide imaging and image analysis, cell culture, and data management according to established protocols, plus other laboratory duties as assigned. The focus of this job is on producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. In addition to clinical testing duties, the Associate Scientist will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of Scientists and Engineers to perform laboratory and informatics tasks related to research studies, including evidence development studies on existing assays, assay and process improvement, as well as the development of new clinical assays. Laboratory Administrative Assistant

Cernostics is seeking a Laboratory Administrative Assistant at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined work. The work is highly precise in nature and requires patience, a very strong attention to detail, cooperation with colleagues, a willingness to handle repetitive job routines, and a commitment to delivering error-free work. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. Checking and double-checking is often necessary; individuals performing the job must be patient and conscientious. Both the content and the presentation are important; all work must be highly polished. There is little ambiguity in this job. It is very clear what needs to be done, and what the expected results are. This clarity will come either from the company’s management, or from established professional disciplines and processes. The established procedures and processes must be followed very closely; there is little room or necessity to modify them. Much of the work can be accomplished by working at a steady, even pace. The work is helpful in nature; providing support and/or service to laboratory staff and healthcare clients. Interacting with clients requires a professional, formal manner where the focus is on completing the task pleasantly and correctly.

Laboratory Assistant

Cernostics is seeking a Laboratory Assistant at our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. The purpose of the Laboratory Assistant role is to assist with laboratory duties related to tissue-based cancer diagnostic testing. The successful candidate will support laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply areas, equipment, and reagents. The Laboratory Assistant will perform all daily, weekly, monthly and annual quality control tasks including maintenance of all laboratory equipment. They will also prepare general laboratory paperwork for review by lab management, wash and organize laboratory glassware and plasticware to prepare for the next day’s lab work, stock lab supplies, clean the work areas to maintain a safe working environment, prepare buffers and other reagents, archive and retrieve specimens from storage, and assist laboratory scientists with tasks as needed.
